Tata Steel announces realigned European distribution service at Blechexpo 2013
Tata Steel will be at Blechexpo in November to outline how major changes to its distribution and service centre network in continental Europe will improve its customer offering. Europe’s second largest steelmaker will use the major sheet metal processing exhibition, which runs from 5-8 November in Stuttgart, Germany, to demonstrate how its realigned organisation is even better focused on delivering customer value. The transformation of its distribution network will enhance the service offering and give European customers local access to Tata Steel’s comprehensive product range.
Tata Steel’s distribution and service centres make up the second largest distribution and service network in Europe, in terms of regional coverage. The network in continental Europe has now been realigned based on client end markets and the light or heavy gauge product group offered. With this step the entire sales organisation is now focused on specific market sectors, for example Automotive, Construction and Lifting and Excavating. Customers get access to Tata Steel’s comprehensive product range of standard and advanced steel products and client specific processing services. The changes will further improve service levels, with the material supply reaching the customer from the best qualified and closest Tata Steel distribution location.
Tata Steel will also demonstrate at Blechexpo how its range of products and services are optimised to help customers succeed in their markets. As part of its ambition to grow sales of differentiated products – products offering distinctive capabilities for specific applications – to 40 per cent of its sales volume by 2016, Tata Steel’s product portfolio is continuously being extended, including additions to its Ympress® range of high strength low alloy steels.
In addition, Tata Steel will showcase how it is helping its automotive customers through its advanced automotive engineering support services such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Scans, which can lead to dramatic cost reductions at all stages of the manufacturing and end-user process. The services are not only offered to the automotive industry but also to customers in other sectors, such as the lifting and excavating market or the building industry.
